Blackfish Sailing Adventures offers sail training courses, tours, and crewed sailing charters of the Gulf and San Juan Islands from our base in Victoria, BC. Canada. We sail as far north as Desolation Sound on our overnight tours. This coming year we plan to circumnavigate Vancouver Island by sail, and will be inviting other boaters to join.. We also offer kayaking or whale watching on its own or as a package in combination with our sailing excursions.

Our day and half day "Introduction to Sail " cruises are especially popular with visitors to Victoria wishing to sightsee and to relax while experiencing what sailing is all about. Our city is a conveniant and lovely ferry ride from Vancouver, BC and Seattle Washington.

For those who are interested in spending more time sailing we offer multi- day "cruise & Learns" as well as skippered charters which can be designed around your special needs. The Gulf Islands are a favourite sailing area and lie within an hour's sail from our Victoria home base.

Sailing is a great way to "team build". Check out our "flotilla sailing charters " for larger groups who are looking for an instructive and fun way for employees and their managers to "mess about with boats" - in a novel West Coast setting.

Nearly all of our tours feature some element of instruction and lots of opportunity for you to get involved with the sailing of the boats. My mates and I are certified Canadian Yachting Asssociation yachting instructors, and the sail instruction you will recieve from our CYA accredited Sailing School is recognized the world over.

Sue and I are a small business and prefer it that way: We operate a 35 foot Beneteau cruising sloop “Ibis” (shown above). Having fallen in love with West Coast waters and life styles on our first visit to the Coast in the 1980’s, we have now found through sail (and kayak) a wonderful way to share this love affair of ours for the ocean with fellow adventurers.

Focus and Philosphy: Blackfish is a long-standing member of Tourism Victoria. We are also proudmembers of Earth Foot, a society dedicated to low-impact eco-tourism - tour operations which are small in scale, owner-operated and respectfull of our wonderful marine environment.

We operate all year around. Being moored at Oak Bay Marina (a 10 minute drive from Victoria's Inner Harbour), the Oak Bay waters you will be sailing are conveniently close to the Gulf Islands and protected from prevailing winds and seas. If you desire more challenging conditions you have the choice of venturing into Haro Strait or Juan de Fuca Straits adjacent. The panoramic views of snow-capped Mount Baker and the Olympic Mountains make sailing these waters especially memorable.
