CARIBBEAN CRUISING

A Winter Escape

in 2010

O.K., YOU ARE ITCHING TO GO SOUTH THIS WINTER. Here is an opportunity to cruise the Caribbean this coming January or February- a winter escape that should warm your frigid hands, if not hearts and souls!

What I am proposing is to charter a sail boat with up to 6 adventurous and fun people. The trip would be from one to two weeks in duration. We would seek out good winds for sailing, good coral reefs for diving, and interesting ports of call for exploring.

Everyone would be expected to pitch on with the work and to share in the sailing. As a CYA Instructor, I would be present to Skipper the vessel and to provide instruction where required. We would hire either a monohull or a catamaran, depending on where we choose to go and sailing preferences.

I am purposefully vague at this time as to where we will go , and how we will do it because I would like the group to help me shape this adventure so that it might become the best experience it can be.

Several options I would suggest we all consider are:

1). Cruising the Windward Islands from St. Lucia to the Grenadines (monohull or cat)

2) Cruising the British Virgin Islands (monohull)

3) Cruising around Cuba (yes, they do have a charter company operating out of here)

4) Cruising the coasts of Belize (in a cat)

From my research so far, I estimate costs will be in the range of $100. per person per day (for the boat portion of the cruise). The exact amount will dpend of course on what kind of boat we get, where we sail. and how we intend to provision.

If interested in participating , send me an email and we can discuss this further.

Information I would need from you at this time is the following:

1. a brief decription of yourself, your physical fitness, sailiang experience, and what you are seeking from this trip

2. what months and for how long would you like to cruise (and what flexibility you might have in dates)

3. Which cruising area you would prefer and why.

4. Accommodation needs aboard the boat.
