DEPARTURE LOCATIONS
We usually depart from either Victoria Harbour or from Oak Bay.
Our marina location in Victoria Harbour is behind the Coast Harbourside Hotel on Montreal Street. This location is within convenient walking distance from all downtown hotels and attractions.
Departing from our Oak Bay Marina location will require extra transport if your group is housed down town. But this is worth the effort as there is better sailing to be had here. It is also closer to the Gulf Islands, enabling stopovers for picnicking and for hiking as well as whale watching options in Haro Strait.
Oak Bay Marina is located at 1327 Beach Drive, Victoria, V8S 2N4
For sheer fun on the water few things compare with the thrill of participating in a sailing regatta! The regattas that we organize provide a “hands-on” sailing experiencefor those sailors who would like to learn the basics of sailing with a touch of friendly competition, while enjoying the sights and sounds of our beautiful West Coast waters.
Our programs can also be focused on the more serious sailors in your crowd who would like to test their skills in a more competitive setting with a number of sailboats we can provide in the 8 to 15 meter (25 to 45 foot) range.
TEAM BUILDING: Flotilla sailing will appeal to managers and their employees who wish to improve their relationships and skills with one another. Sailing, if nothing else, takes you away from urban distractions and requires organization, and teamwork to succeed. Sailing in the company of two or more boats invariably introduces an air of competition and rivalry, especially when the water canons are hauled out and Jolly Roger unfurled !
Typically, each vessel will have a sailing instructor in charge and will preferably carry no more than 4 to 6 persons each. This small numbers per boat and boats which range from 28 feet to 55 feet allows maximum opportunity for each person to sail and to participate as a "team". No boating experience is required, only a desire to participate. As there is a learning compent to all of this, CYA "Introductory" sailing proficiency certificates can be awarded to participants upon return.
Call us to design a program suitable for your group: We have a variety of boats and destinations to choose from in assembling a flotilla or "team building" exercise. Groups we can host with our 7 vessels can range from four to forty persons. On our half day and day tours we can arrange to depart either from Victoria’s Inner Harbour or Oak Bay. This year we are introducing overnight flotilla cruises to the Gulf and San Juan Islands.
