Ok, so you want to familiarize yourself with sailing, develop some sailing skills, or find out the kind of boat you should buy, or just want to find out if sailing is for you, then join us for a "hands on" cruise of the Gulf Islands or areas north. We start from our base in Oak Bay (next to Victoria). The pace will be leisurely, and the scenery magnificent. You can join others or charter the vessel for your own group (6 persons max.) Our emphasis will be enjoying our vessel and exploring these coastal waters. You will be given "Introductory" sail training as prescribed by the Canadian Yachting Association, and as much "hands-on" experience sailing the boat as you desire. No boating experience is required. I bring along a variety of books on marine life, and natural history. My knowledge of this area has been gained by 15 years of experience cruising the BC coast. If you have musical instruments and/or singing voices, bring them along as well. We plan to have a good time. Good food, good preparation and time to enjoy meals is stressed. Our Beneteau has a fully equipped galley and features a large salon and cockpit suited for both eating and entertaining. Let me know if you have special dietery needs. An inflatable is towed along on our day and overnight trips. This enables us to go ashore and explore islands. We can also provide you with fishing and crabbing gear. If you would like to try your hand at kayaking, we can take along our Klepper two person kayak.
What's Included: The charter prices given above include a Skipper and CYA sailing instruction. Prices also include all expenses such as fuel, park permits, moorage if not anchored and other items and expenses associated with cruising and living aboard. Specifically; we provide pillows, pillow cases and sheets (or sleeping bags), towels, wet weather gear (if you don't have your own), PFD's, and fishing/crabbing gear. Pleasure Craft Operator's Card (PCOC): If persons wish to obtain this boating certification (soon to be mandetory for all persons operating a recreational pleasure craft in Canada), add $35. for study material, exam and upon successful completion, a plasticized wallet size PCOC Card which is good for life. Prices do not include food and drinks. For this, add $25. per person per day (exclude food for the Skipper). Also add a 5% GST to prices. See Our Boat for a complete description of our vessel and her features.
Cruising Areas: The Gulf and San Juan Islands are convenient destinations from our base in Victoria. With more time, you can choose to explore the islands and coastlines north of Victoria and Nanaimo, going as far as Desolation Sound for example. Vancouver Island Cricumnavigation: If you are looking for a very interesting and novel experience, join us on one or more legs of a 23 day sail around Vancouver Island. The first of two such circumnavigations in 2008 is planned for this May. For details Click.
